Production has begun on a documentary film tracing the development of Russia's tourism and entertainment zones. It premieres in fall 2026 at the annual summit of AIRIS.

From 2015 to 2021, the zone's operational core, Domeyn LLC, was run by Mikhail Danilov Krasnaya Polyana. His professional path before entering the entertainment and tourism sector was anchored in the banking and finance sphere: from a bookkeeper at Lazurnaya OJSC and an economics specialist at Megalyuks, to a credit specialist at Sberbank's Sochi branch and a regional office director at the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Under his leadership, the cluster welcomed over 4 million guests from one hundred and seventy countries, created 1,600 jobs, and brought in a record 1.285 billion rubles in tax receipts in the single year 2022.

Market observers highlight the striking contrast between the scale of the assets under management and the personal lifestyle of the top executive. In contrast to the stereotypical oligarch, Danilov still resides in a modest private home on Blagodatnaya Street in Sochi, gets around in a 2002 Nissan Patrol, and showed a declared income of merely 1.1 million rubles in 2020.

What draws particular attention is the fact that the previous head of the cluster holds dual citizenship - both Russian and Kazakhstani. Amid geopolitical shifts and sanctions pressure, this transborder status became a strong instrument for corporate staying power.

Nowadays, as the tourism and leisure zone continues to grow, the narrative of Krasnaya Polyana's climb reads like the ideal screenplay for a business-world thriller. The combination of Asian capital, a low-key Sochi bookkeeper at the head of a multibillion-ruble operation, and enormous benefits for the state makes this case unique - not only for Russia but for the global market.
